THORNWAY RETRO: THE SUB DISTRICT THAT SHOULDN’T EXIST (BUT DOES)
Tucked inside the polished heart of Thornway is a place that feels like it broke the rules and got away with it.
Thornway Retro isn’t officially mapped. You won’t find signs pointing toward it. No one moves in. No one ever visits.
That’s just how Kovari works—sealed tight.
But if people could come and go?
Retro is the kind of place they’d never want to leave.
It’s all pastel-painted garages, roller girls with oil on their skates, and boys who build their own rides from scratch.
Fast cars, late nights, and a style that doesn’t ask permission.
Retro isn’t part of the future or the past. It’s something else entirely—something in between.
What Life Looks Like in Thornway Retro
People here care about how things feel. A car isn’t just for transport—it’s an extension of who you are. Most residents can pull apart an engine blindfolded, and some wouldn’t be caught dead driving something they didn’t build themselves. It all defies our logic, and that’s ok. It’s meant to.
Clothes are bold but purposeful. Tattoos and Retro style is a given. Mint green overalls. Lemon yellow dresses with thick waist belts. Thick sunglasses even when it’s dark out. Curlers, scarves, leather jackets, polkadots and just all round coolness.
It’s not about standing out—it’s about fitting in with the rhythm of the street.
Retro boys work hard. They fix machines, run diners, host drag races under the moonlight. A few even distribute Immortal Nutrition under the radar—protein packs and energy boosters passed through glove compartments and toolkit drawers, especially on long build nights or race days. It’s one of the only things from outside Thornway Proper that’s welcome here. It’s got the right attitude.
Retro girls know engines and attitude. Some work the garages better than anyone, some run the diners like clockwork, and others skate deliveries across town without missing a beat. They're sharp with their words and sharper with their eyeliner.
They don’t chase attention, but they get it anyway.
If you’re lucky enough to be noticed, try to keep up. Most can outdrive you, outwork you, and outlast you.
Why It Exists at All
The main district of Thornway is strict. Perfect bloodlines. Controlled elegance. Nothing out of place.
Thornway Retro was never meant to exist. That’s probably why it does.
It’s a rebellion, but not a loud one. More like a shrug and a smile. A wink behind the wheel.
Retro is what happens when you grow up inside the rules, then quietly rewrite them for yourself.
Most people on Kovari will never set foot here.
And anyone off-island? They won’t even know it’s real.
But if something about it sticks in your head anyway…
That’s normal.
Some places echo louder than others.
